Scholarship Description: Cfp Upenn Provision of infrastructure or prestressed reinforced concrete with extended lifetime depends on long-term durability of structural systems. A particular challenge is that the conditions of exposure to the structure in service can be severe and include recurring charges and aggressive environmental conditions over a period of more than 50-100 years. This Cfp Upenn project will investigate the use of prestressed concrete strength with a high innovative carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) tendons. Promising applications for this system includes elements such as slim lightweight spun-concrete power pole and the external facade. http://www.callforpapersinfo.com
http://thescholarshipprogramme.com One particular strand of this project interesting is to assess the interaction between mechanical and environmental exposure regime, the behavior of CFRP tendons and implications for both the surrounding concrete and structural system as a whole. It is envisaged that this project will include a pilot program targeted at high-strength prestressed concrete sample representation. Cfp Upenn Experimental work will be supported by analytical studies to predict the time-dependent behavior and the implications of age structure.
The PhD scholarship for three years will be based at the University of Cambridge but will be done in cooperation with SACAC Ltd and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA).Cfp Upenn It is anticipated that this project will include the opportunity to visit our collaborators in Switzerland.
